The Montessori Association of South Texas or MAST board, has voted to utlize the Good Cause Exception in response to Texas Law (HB 3, 2023). CC-Montessori School will not utlize armed guards on it's campus. This includes:

• School Resource Officer (SRO)/Peace Officer: A commissioned officer, typically from a local law enforcement agency, working within the school.

• School Guardian (Guardian Plan): A district employee, authorized by the board, who carries a concealed handgun after completing specialized training, which requires a minimum of 16 hours of training and a license to carry.

• School Marshal: An employee, authorized by the board, who completes an 80-hour training course through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
